  1. Get 1 lb ground beef
  2. Take to taste Salt, pepper
  3. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  4. Get 1/2 teaspoon garlic poweder
  5. Take 1/2 onion, diced
  6. Make ready 8-10 oz mushrooms, sliced
  7. Prepare 2 cloves garlic minced
  8. Take 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  9. Take 2 teaspoons flour
  10. Get 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  11. Take 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup
  12. Take 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  13. Prepare Pinch ground nutmeg
  14. Prepare 1 cup sour cream
  15. Take Cooked egg noodles (whole wheat are best)

Instructions to make Classic Ground Beef Stroganoff:
  1. Cook ground beef, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder in a skillet until no longer pink, drain set aside
  2. In same skillet melt butter and saute mushrooms, onion, and garlic until mushrooms are browned and onions are translucent. Add garlic last so it won't burn.
  3. Sprinkle on flour a stir to cook flour for 2 minutes
  4. Deglaze skillet with beef broth, add mushrooms soup, stir until combined.
  5. Add cooked beef back to skillet, stir in nutmeg, bring to a light boil and then simmer for 15 minutes while noodles cook.
  6. Check for last minute seasoning needs and stir in sour cream just before serving.
  7. Serve over whole wheat egg noodles
